Q: Why did you choose Uniworld for this cruise?
A: I always wanted to try Uniworld for an upscale boutique cruise experience where everything is included.
Q: When did you travel and what destinations did you visit?
A: I travelled from Amsterdam to Brussels from March 18-24, 2024 onboard the S.S. Victoria.
Q: Can you describe the overall ambiance of the ship?
A: Laidback luxury. The S.S. Victoria is a modern ship that Uniworld has acquired from Crystal and it has a different feel from the other ships owned by Uniworld. Not much activity onboard, just time to eat and drink, enjoy the evening entertainment and dance a little.
Q: How would you rate the service and attention to detail from the crew?
A: 5-star service on all accounts. The staff was amazing and always there to assist. Loved the lounge to sit, have a drink and watch the world go by.
Q: What was your stateroom like, and did it meet your expectations?
A: The stateroom was very spacious and modern. We had a Deluxe French Balcony, which came with an espresso machine, a jar of European chocolates, a walk-in closet, and a beautiful large bathroom.
Q: What dining options were available, and how was the food quality?
A: We enjoyed the main dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also had the option to also eat at Bistro, which always had sweets on display all day.
Q: Did you participate in any onboard activities or events? What stood out?
A: Most Uniworld sailings have a 70s party, which we prepared for in advance. It was a great way to meet other guests. We also had a beer tasting with multiple beers from the region and every single night there was some form of entertainment after dinner.
Q: What shore excursions did you take, and which were your favourite?
A: We visited the Kinderdijk windmills and took a boat ride on the water. I didn’t realize people live and work in these windmills. In Rotterdam, we did a Dutch culinary tour in the Market which was very tasty. In the same evening, we visited the Mauritshuis House (Art Gallery) where we were able to see the Girl with a Pearl Earring painting by Johannes Vermeer after hours when it was closed to the public. In Antwerp, we visited a chocolate museum. In Brussels, we visited a beer museum and toured the city. My favourite things to do was anything involving food and drink.
Q: How well were the excursions organized, and did they offer a unique experience?
A: The Uniworld excursions were very well organized. Having the art house to ourselves was a very special experience.
Q: Were there any unexpected highlights during your time off the ship?
A: Interacting with the locals was a highlight for me. I always enjoy talking to the people that live in the countries we visit.
Q: What was your favourite part of the cruise?
A: Dinners were my favourite part of the cruise. We never knew what each meal would be and they were always exceptional. Drinks were included so you could try some interesting cocktails and wines at the same time.
Q: Were there any standout moments or personal experiences that made the trip memorable?
A: It was busy since there is always something you can do. I have FOMO when I travel so I try to take in and do as much as I can. But, having the time to travel with my wife and be pampered in luxury is what will I remember the most.
Q: Who would you recommend this cruise to, and why?
A: Couples, families with adult children, seniors, and friends. Uniworld has a relaxed luxury atmosphere and I would say anybody would love the experience they provide. The food, the service, the drinks, and the staff are all top-notch.
Q: Is there anything you would do differently next time?
A: Next time I would cruise in a different part of the world that Uniworld offers. The Rhine, Danube, Douro, and they have a really interesting Venice itinerary that staff seem to think highly of.
Q: Do you have any tips for first-time Uniworld cruisers?
A: Take a deep breath and exhale when you step onboard and leave all of life’s worries and troubles out at the door as you are in for a treat.
