Why Anaheim Is Your PERFECT Next Family Vacation

Why Anaheim Is Your PERFECT Next Family Vacation

After years of having to cancel travel plans due to ever-changing travel restrictions related to the pandemic, you’re probably itching for an amazing and memorable getaway with your family where you can create new happy memories together in the warm sunshine.

Anaheim California is one of America’s most popular tourist destinations for good reason – with the main attraction, of course, being Disneyland!!

While Disney is a good reason to visit Anaheim, it is only a small part of what the city has to offer. Anaheim is teeming with so many more places to explore and things to enjoy for the entire family. This is the perfect city for a family vacation full of adventure, culinary delights, near-perfect weather, and a little bit of magic.

Read on to discover our travel consultants’ favorite things to do and see in sunny Anaheim!

Many families travel to Anaheim specifically to visit Disneyland. Whether it’s your 1st time or 100th time visiting, Disneyland never disappoints and always has new things for you to discover!

At the first-ever Disney Park, Disneyland is home to Fantasy Land, Adventure Land, the newest land Galaxy’s Edge (a Star Wars-themed land), and much more. The newer park, Disney’s California Adventure is home to Pixar Pier, Cars Land, the newest area Avengers Campus (based on the Marvel universe), and much more. Both parks are a must-visit for any Disney fan!

Disney Makes Visiting Safe in 2022 with COVID-19 Protocols

With Disney’s priority to keep guests as safe as possible while in the parks, you won’t have to worry about your family’s safety. From the very beginning, Walt Disney made cleanliness an important part of the Disney Park experience. They have high standards for cleaning and sanitation, with health and safety measures in place such as:

  • Training for Cast Members, with ongoing reinforcement on a regular basis
  • Defined cycles for frequent cleaning and disinfection of targeted areas
  • Easy access to handwashing facilities and hand sanitizer dispensers
  • Quick response to spills, trash, and other situations
  • End-of-day sanitation procedures for restrooms, kitchens, and other facilities
  • Frequent cleaning and “wash down” of outdoor locations, including walkways and queues

There are so many other ways the entire family can enjoy Anaheim together outside of Disneyland Park!

Downtown Disney

Open-air cafés, street musicians, sparkling shops, and soaring temples to everything Disney—this tempting pedestrian zone in Anaheim is as must-see as the resort’s two theme parks. If you’re hungry when you get here, you won’t be for long, as you’ll easily be able to find creative and delicious dishes.

There’s also plenty of live entertainment, activities, and shopping to be had. You can go bowling at Splitsville, enjoy New Orleans–inspired music at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, stock up on souvenirs at the World of Disney shop or browse big-name stores such as the LEGO Store or Sephora. Appreciate the vintage-inspired, Disney-themed clothes and accessories at The Disney Dress Shop, and if your home is lacking some magic, call in at the Disney Home store to find the perfect themed kitchenware and décor! Star Wars fans will love Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, a total-immersion virtual reality experience with state-of-the-art 3-D imagery and sound.

It is completely free to visit Downtown Disney, you don’t have to have a ticket to Disneyland to visit.

Angel Stadium

Anaheim is home to the Angels baseball team and luckily, the Angels Stadium is a fantastic place for families! Sundays are family days so there are extra games and fun for the kiddos with face painting and more!

Anaheim Packing District

The Anaheim Packing District is an upscale food court full of local vendors & bars all located in a renovated and historical 1919 citrus-packing house. This is the perfect place if you’re searching out delicious and Instagramable snacks and meals, as well as a cool collection of shops! The Packing District is just a couple miles from Disneyland, near Anaheim’s downtown.

Visit Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach is the closest beach to Anaheim and just a quick drive away. It is one of the most iconic beaches in Southern California. Enjoy watching some amazing surfers, dine and shop on Main St., and of course enjoy the beach.

Knott’s Berry Farms

Knott’s Berry Farm is a world-renowned theme park built from the humblest of beginnings. What started out as a small berry farm soon began to grow into a family theme park destination thanks to famous fried chicken dinners, boysenberries, and an Old West Ghost Town. Knott’s Berry Farm now bursts with attractions and entertainment for all ages, including first-class roller coasters, stage shows, interactive experiences, delicious food creations, and family-friendly fun featuring Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang.

Medieval Times

You can’t miss the long-time family favorite, Medieval Times! Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament is a family dinner theatre featuring staged medieval-style games, sword-fighting, and jousting. The Queen of the Royal Court invites you to travel through the mists of time to a festive celebration where you’ll be in awe of gallant knights and majestic horses. A perfect experience for the whole family!

Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood is a film studio and theme park in Los Angeles, California. It is the original Universal Studio park! Universal is about an hour’s drive from Disneyland and can easily be enjoyed as a day trip!

Escape from dinosaurs, morph into a Minion and fly over Hogwarts on the always-entertaining attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood. The park will seamlessly immerse you into the world of TV and movies in a place where filmmaking still takes place today. Hop on a ride that drops you inside a classic movie, explore movie magic at a Special Effects stage show and eat some of the same food as your favorite characters, Butterbeer anyone?
